Made famous by Paul Simon, his - an exact harmonic quote of a Bach chorale; mine - a richer contrapuntal treatment.

From the chorale, “Herzlich thut mich verlangen” by J. S. Bach, this melody was also arranged by Paul Simon in his version of “American Tune”.  In my arrangement, I have quoted Bach in the intro and then I develop the motif in a more contemporary style.  The optional tag is reminiscent of “Dust in the Wind” by Kansas and somehow flows out of the body. Watch that the eighths don’t rush and try to bring out the counterpoint with inner voices rising in dynamics above outer ones where appropriate.
