O Little Town Of Bethlehem (Redner)
O Little Town Of Bethlehem (Redner)
Such a pretty arrangement! Has a wonderfully contrasting middle section which recapitulates seamlessly.
I received no end of grief about my D natural (measure 9) in the melody (the original is a D sharp), but being as stubborn as I am, I would not change it. I fell in love with the sound of it. The beauty of this melody lies in its rhythmic steadiness and flowing character. I therefore imagined my arrangement as a quiet, flowing river and proceeded from there. In the middle, I placed a small rapids and then resolved back to calm. This is one of my favorites. The trick here is in the trading off of voices. If you listen hard to one another instead of counting, it is easy. The different instruments picking up on the melody are like separate eddies in the stream.
