Poor Tom (Led Zeppelin)
Poor Tom (Led Zeppelin)
Beat that cello like a drum (literally). This gets the audience's eyebrows firmly raised with a smile on their collective face.
The original is so highly rhythmic it just begged for something new. For all you closet drummers out there. Cello tapping is done with two fingers on the sides or table and foot on the floor. If you aren't feeling particularly coordinated on performance day, you can leave out the foot. Tapping on the cello is very resonant so don't hit hard (be kind to your cello). Bring out those accents big time. For everybody else, ultra-precision is required for threes against twos and fours, otherwise it will be a real mess.
